Bond University Juris Doctor / Juris Doctor Online: application checkpoints before you choose an adviser

Bond lists the on-campus Juris Doctor as LA-43055 and Juris Doctor Online as LA-43065, with different intake months, international tuition and compulsory credit points.

Which version of Bond’s Juris Doctor you apply for changes the intake months, the international tuition and the compulsory credit load. Settle those three before you treat anyone’s summary of the program as your starting point. Bond lists the on-campus program as LA-43055 and the online program as LA-43065. Each is a Masters Degree (Coursework) qualification set out over 2 years (6 semesters). The on-campus program carries CRICOS code 093923J.

Two program codes, two modes of study

The on-campus JD is delivered at the Gold Coast Campus. Bond’s page for it describes an Integrated Skills and Professionalism Program embedded throughout the degree. The online version is delivered fully online, with interactive resources and live online seminars.

That difference matters more than it sounds. If an adviser quotes you a fee or an intake date, the quote only holds for one of the two codes. Ask which one they are working from.

Intake months don’t line up

On-campus offerings listed: September 2026, January 2027, May 2027 and September 2027.

Online offerings listed: September 2026, May 2027, September 2027 and May 2028.

The on-campus sequence includes a January start; the online sequence steps from September to May. Plan your application around the dates attached to your chosen code, not around a general “three intakes a year” description.

International tuition, by commencing year

For 2026, the on-campus JD is AUD 25,358 per semester, or AUD 152,150 across the program. The online JD for the same year is AUD 22,520 per semester, or AUD 135,120 across the program.

For 2027, on-campus is AUD 26,513 per semester and AUD 159,080 in total. Online is AUD 23,320 per semester and AUD 139,920 in total.

Bond labels these amounts as indicative. The figure depends on the subjects you take and the year you start, and the rate published for your commencing year is the one that applies.

Entry criteria: one degree requirement, two English tests

Both program pages list successful completion of a recognised bachelor degree, or an equivalent qualification, in any field.

For applicants presenting a Chinese or Taiwanese qualification, Bond specifies a recognised 4-year bachelor degree equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree, assessed under that same requirement.

English evidence listed: IELTS Academic overall 6.5 with no sub-score below 6.0, and PTE Academic overall 58 with no communicative score below 50. A result that clears one test and misses the other is not a partial pass — the thresholds apply together, per test.

Credit split: 170/70 on campus, 140/100 online

The on-campus program carries 170 compulsory credit points and 70 elective credit points, 240 in total, with 7 specialisation options.

The online program carries 140 compulsory credit points and 100 elective credit points, 240 in total.

The totals match; the proportion of required subjects does not. An adviser who describes the degree as “mostly electives” or “almost all compulsory” is describing one version, not both.

Questions worth putting to an adviser

  • Which program code are you quoting, LA-43055 or LA-43065?
  • Which intake date does your timeline assume?
  • What is the per-semester figure and the program total for my commencing year?
  • How many compulsory and how many elective credit points does that version carry?
  • Does my bachelor degree match the recognised-degree requirement as written?
  • Does my English result meet IELTS 6.5 with no band below 6.0, or PTE 58 with no communicative score below 50?

If a number you are given differs from the ones above with no stated reason, ask which year it refers to and which program code it belongs to. A quote that mixes the online fee with the on-campus credit split is not a quote for either program.

Fees, offerings and program structures are indicative and change with the commencing year; the figures published for the year you start apply.
